powders for heavy bullets?

Hallo as i am new to the forums i have some questions for the guru's. I am reloading for the .222 rem thats has a 10 twist barrel fitted with a no turn neck, it loves the 69g HPBT's and i would like to know if slow powders work better with heavy bullets and vice versa? as i have been using (Australian AR2219) H322 in the USA i believe? thankyou for any help and love the website

Generally yes. Vihtavuori N140, Hodgdon Varget (AR2208)* and Hodgdon H4895 (AR2206H)*... definitely going to be compressed loads. H322 was probably THE powder for .222 REM benchrest.

I did some looking and didn't find any published load data for the .22 REM and the 69 gr MK, even though you have the twist for it.- nhk

I've used Hodgdon 4895, Varget, and Alliant Reloder 15 (which is very similar to N140) in a .223 with 75 gr bullets, so would imagine that they'd work well in a .222 with 69 gr MK's. Any other powders in the same burning rate range would likely work well too. You're likely going to have to try each and see which shoots best and produces good velocity. You might find that you're using compressed powder charges in the .222 with the slower powders though.

I think the short cut 4895 would work for the 69gr bullets
You may try the H322/ You still can try some of the lighter bullets also . Usually lighter bullets like the faster powders like 4198 I think i would try a few sierra 53 gr match bullwts with the 4198 just for fun.

Thanks a lot for the wise words boys i loaded 50 fire formed lapua cases with 22grns(on the acculab) of AR2206(discontinued) same burn as Hodgdon BLC(2)? with the NOSLER Custom Competition Bullets 69grn hpbt.I had loaded some AR2219(H322) before in this same rifle and it was blanking primers? shot good but was unsafe in my book(i was running CCI bechrest primers) but some had been loaded with the PMC copper primers("Russian Primers") also discontinued in Australia (I have a small supply still) these primers were showing very little effect unlike the CCI primers??? so this load was loaded with the copper primers! Why do the softer copper primers seem to hold more pressure? this question i would love to know?
