Powder Questions on 6ppc Loads?

I have seen several with very long drop tubes to get the N133 powder in the case, it seems like 29.0 grains + can or does need a drop tube or some loading trickery to get the powder in the case and a bullet seated.

I was wondering why that works? and why not go to N130 or even N530 slightly faster powder, slightly less powder still 100% load denesity?
I'm not trying to start a powder search or debate, just wondering why the N133 does seem to work like it does? reasons?

The trickery is to reverse the measure handle slightly at the first sign of powder in the drop tube (after approaching that point somewhat gingerly) and then to start again, and stop, and start, perhaps a total of 4-5 times. This slow drop will "stack" the powder more compactly.

Any one ever try N130 or N530 in the 6ppc?
I know some were shooting AA2015 and that seems a faster powder than N133.
Think someone mentioned IMR 4198 but Had to be a smoken hot load for it to shoot it.
I just wonder why N133 seems to be the only go to powder? What if it would not shoot it,then what do i do?

If your 6PPC is properly built, you should be able to find a load with 133, H322, Benchmark, or ...even Xterminator. The trick is having a load work up procedure that works, and is not just some random casting about. Fellows who know tell me that in hot weather it is hard to stay with the required drops in charge weight as the day gets hotter with 4198. Why worry about not being able to find a load with 133 unless you actually have the problem?

It's winter time boyd and my mind is wondering.
man would it be nice to have a 100yrd indoor range or one of tunnel's going out from the basement.
No it's been like 60deg F today,I was just to lazy to drag all that stuff out to the range,It going to be 63deg F tomorrow so i'm going to shoot some tomorrow.
the Big deer season starts monday(I work) but need my 6BR site'ed in incase i see a big one in the back yard when i get home.
I hear you, boyd.I should have a 6ppc shooting by mid april..so I have been thinking about loads, powder's. bullet's. have'ent been thinking about barrels though, hope the one that comes on it will shoot.

?
I don't think you got an answer about using V130 in a 6PPC. Yes it will work, matter of face there was a factory loading of the 6PPC that used V130, but ot will not work as well as V133. There are other powders that wo work after one fashion or another, 2015, 322, 8208, 4198, RL10X, and a few more.

Thanks jerry,i'm going to order a 8lbs can of N133,i will have them send me a 1lbs can of N530 to.After i have a good load tuned with N133 , I will play with some N530 I have a gut feeling about it. I allways have RL10x on hand as the 6BR loves that stuff. I have H322 and the new 8208 i only use the 8208 for varmint loads(so far thats all it been good for)seems the lot i have is very slow burn. I have a old two # can of N133 but want to try a newer lot.

530 has about the same burn rate as 4895. If fact, I can swap them grain for grain in my .223. Roy Darnell tried 530 in his 30-BR. He reported it shot well, but low velocity. In short, in spite of Vita's statement that it has the same burn rate as 130, it doesn't. Fair bit slower.

Thanks charles, yea you are right, N530 is close to N135 not N130. wonder why they say has a burn rate like N130.Thats a miss print.
well maybe i burn some of it in my 6BR's and see how they like it.
