Posting pictures

After years of posting pictures, something is blocking me. I start or respond to a thread and try to post a picture by clicking on “Manage attachments” and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

The first image is hosted offsite on flickr.com. I used their embed code.

The 2nd (small image) is on my computer but it's way downsized from the original 25+ meg file. This site won't take images with too large a file size. I entered the image by using the "insert image" button. It inserts just a thumbnail but will go to a larger version if you click it. I don't know if there's a way to imbed full sized images directly.

but 1st, check your file size, if it's more than a meg or so, the site probably won't accept it.

I've got several programs capable of reducing image file sizes but there are free programs galore if you google "reduce image file size". Since I'm heavily into photography, my programs tend to be more complicated than most people want or need.

Edit: I just tried the "manage attachments" function below but it did the same exact thing as did the "insert image" button above did.

Using a third party hosting site is sooooo much easier, Francis.

I use Imgur....like this:

sorry,
but in this day and age ZERO excuse for third party hosting.
simply a money maker for the 3rd party
actually fewer steps from your computer
post YOUR pics from YOUR computer.

(Punctultion correction is mine).

Third party hosting is simply another way to do it. Many third party sites are free and offer additional tools such as photo editing. Photoscape, Flickr and Imgur are three good ones that are user friendly.

Many sites 'Manage Attachments' tabs get a little herky with certain anti-virus/malware/spyware firewalls/filters. Third party hosting effectively does an end-run around those issues.

Just my observation from the cheap seats.... -Al

Here's the same one using the 'Manage Attachments' tab on this site and posted as a 'thumbnail'.
