Picture hosting site tip

OK, I have decided to stop using Photo Bucket and since my ISP email is through Yahoo, I already had a Flickr account, with just a few pictures uploaded to it. After reviewing how it works, I decided that it would get the job done for posting on forum threads, but then there was the matter of uploading all of those pictures that are on my computer that I had uploaded to Photo Bucket a few at a time. Putting them on a new site seemed like it was going to be a lot of work. It turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it would be.

The first thing that I did was to create a new folder on my desktop for gun pictures. Then I went through my pictures and copied and pasted into that folder. One little tip that I learned a long time ago is that you can copy multiple files or folders by holding down the Control key while you highlight all of them and then after highlighting the last one (at this point they are all highlighted), with the key still depressed, right click and left click on copy. From there is is just like copying and pasting a single file.

With my folder complete, I opened Flickr, went to the upload page, and after reducing the page to less than screen size, I dragged the folder into the page's drag and drop upload area, and clicked on the upload button. It took a while for all of the picture files to upload but it was certainly easier than uploading one at a time.

Looking around on the site, I did not figure out how to post a picture so that it would automatically open, but an inquiry to Yahoo resulted in an email with easy to follow directions that worked. (share, select copy BB code, and paste it in the composition frame)...like so.

I ran across it at a match at the Visalia range. I believe that it is a modified PMA Tool unit. I took the picture because it looked like a good idea. Apparently you agree. I do not know what the black ring is made of, but it appears to be some kind of plastic. Since the part that it surrounds is knurled, I think that it could be made undersized and pressed on. On mine, the OD of the knurl is 1.011, and the smooth part on either side of it is .981. The thickness (at a right angle to the diameter) would be around .880, measured from where the case rests on the shell holder to its back. It could be made longer in this dimension so that it overhung the metal part at the back if more grip area was desired. I have both the PMA and 21st Century units. They both work very well. Both have plugs that fit into cases' primer pockets, which is a great improvement over the K&M design. If someone else makes one, I would like to see it and know the details.

Thanks Boyd. Post that picture on accurate shooter and somebody will be selling them next week!!

Boyd, Thanks for the information. I believe that you know almost every thing that is shooting related. You have always been a friend and a wealth of accurate information.

Thanks Bill. I really did this for selfish reasons. I like to see pictures in posts.

The first time that I posted a picture, it was for someone who couldn't figure out how to do it. I had been meaning to learn how, so I told him that I would do it and then I had to stop putting off learning how.

I learned photography from an uncle who ran that department at a state college where my Dad taught back in the late 50's. That was with an old Speed Graphic, and 4x5 film holders that had to be loaded in total darkness and tank developed the same way, feeling your way around in the film darkroom.

Later, when I was in high school, I had my own B&W darkroom setup, and eventually did a small amount of professional work while I was in college.

I absolutely love the convenience of digital photography. We have so many powerful tools at our disposal. It really enhances our ability to communicate.

The world has come a long way since I was a young'un. We were on a "party line" that had 7 other phones. You had to watch what you said or it would be all over as soon as you said it. That was off topic but this isn't...years ago I was at the Violet camera shop in Chattanooga buying some photo paper and I asked the lady if they had plans to cope with the new digital camera. She said, and I quote,..."That's just a fad".
