I was intrigued with Gene Beggs 220 Beggs. In the old days John Bunch insisted on my buying a new Zestava Mini Mauser 7.62X39 barreled action. John said I needed to buy a Shilen 270 CM barrel. He had a wildcat that he liked. It became a 270X39 Ackley or like a 270 PPC. I stocked it and it was a very accurate deer rifle and great for a young person to shoot.
We had a neighbor down the street from us that was at the range with his young son. He was having 'ell getting his deer rifle on paper. His young son was wanting to shoot, but his Dad didn't have time for him, but he let me allow his son to shoot the Mini Mauser. His Dad had a deer silhouette target. I told the young man to shoot his Dad's target in the deer's eye at the same time his Dad fired. His Dad didn't know this. They both fired at the same time. The young fellow hit the deer's eye. His Dad jumped up and down saying he got his 300 mag on target. Told everybody that he would shoot the deer's other eye. They both shot at the same time and the young man hit the deer in the other eye. If you knew his Dad!!! He jumped up and exclaimed how accurate his big magnum happened to be. The young man is about 28yrs old now and still chuckles about this. Dad never knew, but couldn't understand how he hit his deer in the A$$ that year.
Since the rifle had a PPC bolt face I decided to chamber it in the 220 Beggs "220 Russian". I had it restocked and put custom bottom metal on it with a Shilen barrel. I need to shoot it.

That is a really nice looking rifle Butch, I'm sure it'll shoot as well as it looks. Is that one of Duane's bottom metals?
Who did the stock work?

I should've bought two of Duane's bottom metals when he had them avaialble...........Ian

Butch,
Don't know how you have enough time to shoot all those beautiful rifles. I'd rather wonder through your safes than a car show. Keep posting pics of them.
