I like all kinds of music, except RAP. I especially like Jazz. I have a collection of CD’s and some old vinyl’s that have been collecting dust for quite a while now. My hearing is not as acute as it used to be. i don’t feel I am enjoying the sound quality of my music system like I used to.

My components are not really, really high end,but I have enjoyed the sound quality, even with my hearing loss.

Power Amp Adcom 200watt(Highly modified by musical concepts)

Pre amp , Adcom GFP 565

Dual Cs5000 Turn Table with audio quest 404 cartridge.

“ JSE Infinite slope” floor standing speakers with special wiring.

These are analog components from the 80’s era. Vinyl really sounds smooth.

I have a marantz Cd Player that i bought in 2010.

I’m posting this to see if there are enthusiasts who might be interested in this type of music system. Some of these components can still be researched on the internet.

Thanks for looking,

Glenn

Interested as in you're trying to sell the stuff? Or interested as in "are there any audiophiles out there?"

I was thinking of listing some of it in the miscellaneous section.

"Are there any audiophiles out there" would be an interesting discussion I suppose. What do you think Al?

Interesting thought...

Glenn, I am an audiophile, regardless of my hearing loss due to shooting. My wife thinks me weird when I lay on the floor, on my back with my eyes closed, and listen to music. I tried to listen with my hearing aids inserted, but it's a no-go. I also have a fair collection of vinyl, mostly classical, but with a fair sprinkling of jazz and such.
I kick myself in the butt for not listening to the suggestions in wearing ear defenders (in those days, it was a suggestion, not a mandate. Speed was the essence...)
High quality audio equipment is still available, some in the classifieds. Just need to be alert!
As for a discussion, I say, why not?

Audiophile

Hi Phil,
I’m an old dude with serious high and low frequency loss. The hearing loss,
started for me with Vietnam. I had enough hearing left to pass a mandatory pre-employment hearing test a year after I returned from the war. 31 years of in-service firearms training, some without hearing protection, took its toll on my hearing.

I have been wearing hearing aids for the last 10 years, when I think about it.

I just got a new set of the digital, high tech hearing aids(not covered by insurance).

For some reason,my music doesn’t sound the same with hearing aids. Adjusting them don't help. Head Phones don’t help much either. They introduce their own version of the music source.

I have a highly acclaimed Adcom solid state Amp, that's been modified to sound like a tube amp. I could definitely tell the difference back in 1985 when I had the modification done.
(Absolute Sound magazine,did an article on the Adcom Amp back in the 80”s}

My components,Turn Table, Phono cartridge, Speakers, Power Amp, were perfectly matched for my sound preferences.

I don’t hear what i used to hear anymore. It’s hell getting old.

BTW. I don’t feel what I used to feel anymore. The medication aint working:)

I had a quit a highend system but downgraded. It is still pretty highend...
I had B&W 800D2
Esoteric K-03 sacd/cd player
Byrston 7b sst2 amps
bryston 2p26 preamp

I downgraded to
B&W 802N
and a cheaper digital front end...

I hardly ever listen to it any more...
