Open Grove Results for 3-22

We had 7 shooters, and turned out to be a nice evening. In fact, I wish there was more of a breeze for the second and especially the third card, as i sat grinning waiting for some movement, one would figure since the flags are 4 feet apart from lane to lane, and if their tails are moving, why aren't mine moving at all, I can feel the breeze on my face but just no movement, it's time to use the feathers. It is what it was, just thought i would share what I was thinking sitting there waiting.

We all had a great time, and it was a blast. There are 2 possible new records, and will send the 2 targets to Ron for verification. Glen Robinson in Match, and myself in unlimited. John Carter was shooting the 20 cal. and shot awesome for his first time shooting air-rifle. The 20 seems more forgiving, as I watched John fire one shot after another. Jim Herrick also shot very well, he was the only one using Cross-man Premiers, Most of us were using JSB's

1) Glen Robinson- 236 2x, 243 2x, 236 == 715 4x
2) Dale Herrick 223, 230, 234, == 687

4) Brian Denardo 240 1x, 235, 235, == 710 1x

Thanks, to those that showed up and your help cleaning up. another good thing about this is, there isn't any sweeping up to do.

Take Care,
Joe

Great shooting Guys

Looks like the "GURU OF THE GROVE" is at it again. Sure took him a long time to figure out these pellet rifles!!!

Congratulations Joe and Glen on your new records.

Spoke with Alan Z. this AM and my gun should shipped thes week. Look out Boys I'm comming Down there and shooting ALL targets. NO MORE HANDICAPS!!!

Keep up the good shooting.
Fred

Joe,

As always, good shooting, and I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say: thanks for taking the time to take the pictures. They're great!

Paul, It sounds as if our guns may be ready sometime this week. One can only hope! And, I too am anxiously awaiting our first set of matches at both Holbrook and Pinnacle Mtn. But the matches I think I'm anticipating the most may be your indoor matches starting in May.

Oh, and Joe, one question. What is the mattress and bed frame for? Is that so if you're having a problem with one of your guns and are running a little late you can literally "sleep on it"?

Dave

Nice Pics

Good shooting guys, I can see this is going to be a hotly contested game. You know if you want a little breeze to shoot in you can always come up and shoot with us, we might even through in a little rain for good measure.

If you want a really sensative tail try taking apart an old VCR cartridge, the tape works really well in a light breeze.

Dennis

Joe,

Oh, and Joe, one question. What is the mattress and bed frame for? Is that so if you're having a problem with one of your guns and are running a little late you can literally "sleep on it"?

Dave

Hi Dave, I think what you are looking at is a folding table. Sorry, we could have more fun teasing Joe if it were a bed!!! :D

Al

Fred, Thank You for posting the pictures for us.

Paul, Thanks and hope it isn't to much longer before you and Dave get yours.

Fred Thanks, that is great news, and no more handicap. You gentlemen have been waiting awhile.

Dave Thanks, Al is right. A table was set up to block the sun shinning on Brian's face.

Dennis Thanks, will have to try the VCR tape. The thing is,it gets damp here at night and the tails on the wicks have a tendency to stick together, there is not enough air movement when it gets that calm to separate the tails, what little movement comes up is trying to push both tails together making it more difficult to see how much push the air is really trying to tell you in relation if we were using a single tail set up along the course of fire. Using a single tail I see now would be a benefit shooting with these type rifles. Thanks Again.

Brian, John, Dale and myself were using JSB Exact heavy. Glen was using Kodiac heavy in his match rifle, Jim was using CP's, and I did not see what Dave was using.

We are all having a blast, these rifles are so dang accurate it's amazing. To see the smiles on peoples faces, you know they are having a wonderful time.

Thanks Again,
Joe

Great Pictures and shooting

Looking forward to seeing your targets.

I told Dennis that I did not think his records or mine would stand very long and I see that my thinking was correct.

Fred, I was wondering if your new rifle was ready. Looking forward to seeing it on the line at the next match.
