Back when most of you were toddling I shot a little benchrest. 35-40 year ago .. A few still used the.222 can anyone tell me two or three of the old loads for the .222
Don't know about an "old load", but I've had pretty good success this season with my ancient sleeved 722 using 24.6grs of I4895 and 52gr Hillbilly bullets coated with WS2. This barrel may have as many as 10,000 rounds through it and looks like a moonscape with a borescope, but as long as I keep it clean, it shoots. BTW- you may need a drop tube to get the powder in the case.
My records show.....May/62, .222R, Win. cases,Sierra 50gr. SP, 21gr. #4198, grouped 0.400" or better in a custom BSA Martini w/Douglas Premium brl.and unique extractor system. I wish I had that gun now. A lotta chucks went down in those days.
20.4 grs IMR 4198 Remington neck turned brass, Remington 7 1/2 primer neck sized only straight line seater,
Seated to jump from .010 to ,025 . shot tiny groups/
