All Australian LRBR competitors are advised that they have the opportunity to participate in a 1000 yd BR Postal Match with the Virginia 1000yd BR Club (USA).

For those who maybe unfamiliar with the term, Postal Shoots or Matches are a means by which competitors (who are usually separated by considerable distances) are able to compare their results.

Although, it is obvious that no concrete or definitive conclusions can be drawn with these interclub comparisons, the primary emphasis is to encourage and promote increased interest, participation, exchange of information and enhanced communication between individuals or groups who share a common interest. Of course, enjoyment, camaraderie, exposure to new experiences and the like are also important associated factors and considerations.

The Postal Match statistics will be drawn from the results achieved at the regular scheduled 1000yd BR competitions held this month.

The match dates are –
Virginia- Matches #1 & #2 ( 2nd May)
Canberra- (31st May)
Brisbane- (24th May).

Dependent upon actual competitor numbers in Australia, the proposed format is that, the overall Light Gun and Heavy Gun averages for Group and Score achieved by the Top 5 or 10 competitors will be compared with the results achieved by their Virginian 1000yd BR counterparts.

There is no cost of entry or associated fees. Commemorative Keeper Trophies will be awarded to Australian competitors for 1st Place for Group and Score in the HG & LG Classes. Additionally, all eligible competitors from the Australian clubs will receive complementary certificates.

Note - as this is an International event, only Australian competitors who shoot their record target using the traditional IBS “blind” method, will be considered eligible for individual awards and for the inclusion of their results in the compilation of team averages.

Mr Jeff Stover (IBS President), Mr Lee Fischer (IBS 1000yd Delegate), Mr Willie Williamson (Virginia 1000yd BR Club President), Mr Shaun Heming (Virginia 1000yd BR Vice President) and the general membership body of Virginia 1000yd BR Club, are to be commended for their continuing support and promotion of IBS 1000yd BR and for their acceptance, co-operation and participation in these Inaugural International 1000yd BR Postal Matches.

notification of international 1000yd br postal match

A keen and hardy group of australian competitors participated in the inaugural international 1000yd BR postal match on sunday the 31st of May on the McIntosh range in canberra.

Although our results are not as yet competitive with those achieved by the members of the Virginia 1000yd BR club, being able to partake in an event such as this and it's associated interest and publicity, will hopefully lift the popularity and profile of IBS 1000yd BR across australia.

We would also like to thank Mr Jeff Walker for the time and effort he has made in placing some of our photos on the Virginia website.

We are pleased to announce that Vortex Optics Australia have generously offered to become the major sponsor of the IBS 1000yd BR postal match.

Sponsorship details at this stage include a 6 target agg in LG & HG on both score and group.

Thankyou Vortex Optics for the recognition and support of IBS 1000yd BR in Australia.

It is also very pleasing to see that the Townsville 1000yd BR club members will be able to become involved in this event for our future matches.
