North Carolina guys...

Wilbur

cook and bottle washer
There's a lady on the cooking channel that's from North Carolina and she refers to turnips as "turnip roots". Is that what y'all call them or do you call them turnips like we do in Tennessee?

My daddy like the turnip greens and the turnip root. The greens the best. I hated them
He called them turnip roots. We live in western mountains NC

In Texas they are just turnips. But we eat the greens as well as the turnips.
Collard greens are good too.

Is the world going to blazes?

What happened to the "turnip truck" some of these jerks and perverts fell off of?

I think The Donald is getting new tires put on the turnip trucks so we can haul all the lovely dope dealers back to Messiko.

Wilbur,
Was that Vivian Howard in Kinston, NC? She owns and operates a restaurant called "The Chef and the Farmer" that has become very well known in these parts and beyond. Anything she serves is excellent no matter what it is called.

Yes, that was the exact show. Actually, I don't think it was the show but rather an advertisement for the show and it appeared that she was learning about "turnip roots" for the first time....Which couldn't be possible if she was raised in North Carolina as stated. Thing is...it's a show!!! I'm sure it's good stuff and if I get a chance I'll go there and grab a bite.

Wilbur, are you still watching TV? I'm surprised you haven't put it over there with the Walmart. :)

It's getting really, really close....I don't watch the channels I used to watch and the cooking channel is next to go. One more "item" and I'm gone! You're exactly right as that won't leave much to watch.

learn to down load post broadcast..without the commercials.
what limited tv i watch is mostly post broadcast.

I'm not impressed with almost all of the stuff between commercials; for the most part, it's nothing but "filler" to fill the gap between commercials. I believe the info babes and their male sidekicks could talk all day about how great/bad and how well made/poorly made an anvil is.

(ya know if youse guys could hunt
you would not have to eat plants
and roots)

Or the sex life of a bowling ball.

And then lie about the subject or at least put some sinister slant on it. Even FOX, but I do like the cute leggy shots though on FOXNEWS and FOXBIZ.

The guys cover up from their Adam's apple to the tip of their toes (hands excluded); the info babes cover as little as possible. And some of the info babes complain about sexual harassment -- all while having been a willing participant in the conspiracy to attract eyeballs.

I think the male sidekicks are missing an opportunity to strike it rich. One of 'em could wear his muscle shirt and Speedo on the air, get fired for inappropriate dress, then file a sex discrimination suit.

We may actually have to return to that someday....exclusively rather than entertainment...for the lack of a better word. Probably, some already have. I used to know some folks that lived fairly well doing just that....and stole stuff to have money to buy cigarettes and pay the light bill.
