Sorry for the newbie questions, but I've always wanted this rifle and I'm going to do things right or not all all. I will avoid every mistake I've ever made on my factory guns.

Mark, from the above I get you have a chamber with a 0.265" neck?? Most benchrest shooters try for 0.002" total clearance so you would turn your necks to 0.263" diameter---measure with the bullet you plan to use seated to the depth you plan to seat it. Load the bullets to test neck diameter in unprimed unloaded brass of course.

In that example start reloading with a neck bushing of 0.260" (-0.003" from the finished neck)

In using seated bullets to test for the correct adjustment of the turning tool, after you measure a neck this way you can use an inertia bullet puller to save the bullet. Inertia pullers do less damage to the bullet than a collet or Davidson type puller.....use these bullets to fireform with. If you don't already have an inertia puller put it on your New Years list...too late for Christmas!!!

My 6BR was chambered with .269" neck. I turned the necks on Lapua Brass until an un-loaded, un-primed round, measured .268". I use a .266" Wilson bushing in a Redding Small Base Bushing Die and bump the shoulders back a measured .001-.0015". The bushing gives me approx. .0015" to .002" neck tension.

Not to hijack this thread but, maybe I was misinformed, if so, maybe you can help. In my 6BR I turned the necks so a loaded round had only .001" clearance while in the chamber, .269" neck, .268" loaded, actually loaded their .2675", .0015" clearance. A bullet will not drop into a fired case and a fired case neck ID is approx .241". Like I said, this how I was taught, if I'm wrong, someone please correct me.
