I live in south central Ky and would like to try some benchrest competitions. I have shot a lot at paper over the years and have some custom built rifles but I don't know and doubt if they are competetive or legal. I have heard of some matches in Somerset Ky but I cant find any info on the type of rifle I would need. I have plans to have a rifle built in the near future but have no concept of what I need. I am thinking about 100/200 yard range. I have looked at IBS and other websites and the rules, well didn't help that much. Any help will go a long way. Keep in mind I have never attended a bench competition. I guess that would be a good start, just thought I might show up with a little bit of prior knowledge.
Thanks,
Stringer

IBS Varmint For Score matches are held on the 3rd Saturday of every month from April thru Oct near Somerset. Look on the IBS website for Buck Creek Gun Club. Also, we hold the same match at Gallatin TN (Gallatin Gun Club) on the 1st Saturday of most months April-Oct. If you would like to visit either one, you would be welcome and I'm certain that you will be offered an opportunity to shoot one of the rifles if you wish.

There are several qualified gun builders who shoot these matches and more can be recommended by the participants.

If you have other questions, feel free to email me: tnmountainaire@bellsouth.net
