New Savage and trigger replacement

Hello all,

Seems as tho I put up this post once earlier today and when I went back to check for responses, I cant find it. Anyway, maybe I didnt hit submit to actually post it so here goes again.

I have an issue with my new Savage Weather Warrior and am hoping that maybe somebody knows something I dont.

The issue is that I have a new Savage 16 with the hinged floorplate and it also has the Accu-stock(2009 model) and Accu-trigger which I dislike. I bought a trigger from SSS to put in and got it installed in the action and all was well until I tried to put the stock back on. It was then that I realized that since Savage moved the bolt release to be that little slide right in front of the trigger guard, that things were not working. It seems that the new trigger and that bolt release slide are both trying to occupy the same space at the same time and I cannot see how any sort of modification could correct this or allow it to work. If I remove the bolt release slide, it all fits together but then I could not remove the bolt with out taking the rifle apart so this cannot be right.

Have any of you guys, smiths or do-it-yer-selfers seen this issue with aftermarket triggers and the new 2009 Savage Accu-stock rifles? The SSS trigger felt great compared to the Accu-trigger but if the SSS trigger cannot be made to fit, I guess I will have to get used to the Accu-trigger I guess but that stinks IMHO. Fred from SSS was very nice on the phone and is looking into this but I am just wondering how big a problem I have stumbled across.

Any ideas?

I actually did call and ask him and he is going to look into it and get back to me. He is the Fred I mentioned in my initial post. I kinda figured it might take a bit so I was just kinda hoping that someone here had seen this issue also but thanks for the idea anyway.

sit tight, Fred didn't get to where he's at by leaving customers out to dry, he's first class and will work with you to make it right, give him a few days to research it and he'll work it out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Fred is extremely busy, give him a reasonable amount of time.

Its not a big deal really but I would sure rather have Freds SSS trigger than that accu-trigger. The pull weight is not bad and it seems to break fairly clean but I just really dislike the "two stage" feel of it. When your on a coyote stand in -5 degree weather will 2 pairs of gloves on, its not gonna leave much room in the trigger guard. I would just rather have a conventional style trigger but unless I am missing something, its not gonna go in there.

I was also thinking that the new Savage design may make the SSS triggers useless in all the new models unless he totally redesigns them to fit the 2009 Savages. That certainly would not do his business any good I'll wager.

I put the accu-trigger back in so I can shoot and I put the SSS trigger back in the packaging and Fred said that if it turns out that it cannot be fitted, I could return it for a full refund so worse case scenario, I just learn to live with it or sell the entire rifle and buy another 700 which was my other choice. If I knew then what I know now, I would have either bought last years model Savage(no new fancy Accu-stock but the trigger would have worked) and replaced the trigger and stock with a good one or just bought a 700 and tuned up the factory trigger for 35.00. I have been a Rem guy for a long time and then tried a Browning(which stunk) and now a Savage(verdict still out). The words "if it aint broke, dont fix it" come to mind.

Oh well, live and learn I guess.

I have an 08 model and put the trigger in and had the same problem. Mine has a detachable magazine.
Do you have the problem outside of the stock or only when you put it together?
I like the trigger a lot better than the accutrigger.

Just remove the blade. It doesn't affect the trigger itself in any way, it only blocks the sear from dropping all the way in the event of a slam fire, bumping the trigger and etc., its a safety feature.
Remove the snap ring, pull the pin, remove the blade then reinstall the pin.
