New Long Range Match at Mifflin Co. Sportsmens Club

Long Range Bench Rest Steel Shoot

I would like to invite you all to the Mifflin County Sportsmen Club for the first ever Long Range Bench Rest Steel Shoot. Its going to be held on the 24 of Oct. Match starts at 9 am. You will be able to shoot before the match starting at 8 am till around 8:45. You can go to the http://www.mifflincosportsmens.com/LongRangeBenchRestSteelShooting.html to get a idea of the match format. Cost of the match is $20/gun. You may shoot more than one gun in a class. BUT each gun only once.

This is our first match. We already know that there is going to be some problems for this match. The major problem for this first match is lack of backstops at some of the yardages. We are going to take this into consideration for this first match and adjust during the match to accommodate the shooters the best we can. We want to keep it fun but challenging at the same time. We will take care of the backstop problem before the first match next spring. What we are looking for in this match is feedback from the shooters. What did you like, what did you not like. How do you think it could be improved. Is there going to be enough interest in this kind of match to continue it next summer. I need to get dates scheduled with the club.

Myself, my father Ron Grove, Doug Leiby and Barnard Kyler set up the targets this past week and shot at them some. Lets just say its going to be a challenge. It definitely can be done. I was able to get on at each yardage and hit the swingers numerous times. I would bring no less than 80 rnds and probably 100 to be safe. I would also like to thank those guys for the help so far. I would like to let everyone know that at MCSC range you shoot up hill to 1k. Its about 7*. My JAK joystick rest makes it with enough elevation. My Bald Eagle does not. I have to use longer screws for my feet. I do not believe a Farley has enough elevation without longer screws. Just something to keep in mind.

If you have any questions please feel free to email me.

Thanks and hope to see everyone there on the 24 of Oct.
