St. Louis has been at the center of a "perfect storm" of potential world records this week. At the completion of UNL, Sptr,and LV there have been 13, YES thirteen, possible new World records shot. UNL 10-100, Tony boyer and Eric Stanton. LV 5-100, Jack Neary and Tony Boyer. LV 5-200 Gene Bukys. LV-Grand, Jack Neary and tony Boyer. Sptr 5-200 Tom Libby. Sptr Grand, Jack Neary, Gary Ocock, Mike ratigan, Mark Buettgen, and Rodney Brown.

CONGRATULATIONS to them ALL!!!!!!!!!!
 
Geez! What are the conditions up there? Have they had a week long trigger pull?

Wish I could have gone...just didn't have enough vacation left.

With the exception of Eric Stanton, these guys are all over the hill. This is just a fluke that so many also-rans have gotten lucky at the same time. I know for a fact that both Ocock and Libby are taking estrogen just to keep up. A bunch of old farts that can't see the flags anymore are having their swan song on a lolly pop range ;)

Everytime you hear Ocock talk about using "blend", he is not talking about 8208 + 322. He is talking about the combination of estrogen and minoxidil he takes to provoke a 2nd onset of puberty. He is trying to recapture his youth :D

Yep, pertty much. Conditions that really showed up bad gun handling. Even Saturday, with a storm front moving through, there were slots that were trigger pull conditions.....unless ou got caught one shot short.

You and Ralphy should have been there.....if you have a gun that would tune to the low ones.
 
It was the best conditions that I had ever shot in. I had seen matches with conditions that were that good, but not match after match. Unlimited was not a trigger pulling contest although conditions were good for it. Little flag changes would move the bullet more than you thought it should. It was also easy to see who had guns that were tuned and who didn't. In most aggs you had to shoot in the .2's to even break into the top 100 and that might not do it. I know there were .27 aggs above 100th placings. Conditions on Saturday for the HV 200 were more the St. Louis conditions that I had seen there in the past. Quickly switchy and you hoped not to get bit.
 
What an awesome experience...

sure would have loved to have been there when some of the best benchrest shooters in the country, had their absolute best tuned equipment, in some of the best conditions that can ever be remembered for a Nationals. For those who think that benchrest shooting is at a stopping point should look on the board and checkout the 20 teen aggs shot in only 1 yardage. I do not know by any means, but I would be willing to put money on the fact that that has never been accomplished in a bag gun class. What a great day to live in the benchrest world. Long live the sport and congrats to all the shooters who finished well in one of the toughest venues in shooting.

In our club match last Saturday I shot a .2042, and the only reason it was that big was a gun handling mistake on the first target. My last four targets agged .1785, and it was in some conditions...not a trigger pull. So yeah...I think I have a gun that would have been competitive.

Again...wish I had been there!!!
