Nardini 1440 E

Does any body know how short of a barrel you can chamber through the headstock on a Nardini 1440 E with a spider in place of the chuck?

Going from memory, my MS-1440E spindle measures 22" or close. I've got a 20 hp rotary phase converter sitting next to the 440V transformer but have not had the time or reason to get it wired, up and running. Dan at Lilja barrels uses or did use a Nardini 1440 for barrel chambering and thought highly of it.
