Muzzle Brake

I am contemplating installing a Sharp Shooter Supply muzzle brake on my 6BR and wondered if anyone has experience with their particular brake. My 6BR is a former Savage BVSS varmint rifle in 243 rebarreled by SSS to 6BR with one of their Long Range Bench Rest stocks and one of their triggers. It weighs 16 pounds so recoil is minimal however I was thinking a brake would even further reduce recoil and movment in the bags. I do some 600 yard shooting with it in addition to other types of competition where the muzzle brake is permitted. I have a Holland brake on a Remington Sendero in 7mmag and it does an amazing job of reducing recoil however that puppy is loud with lots of concussion i.e., blink factor.

Thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks

I would NEVER brake a 6BR. Do you value your and your fellow shooters' hearing, or do you care more about a 16 POUND rifle in this mild chambering moving around a little bit?

That's my thought.

brake that puppy, everyone wears muff's anyway, I've got two or three SSS brakes, all good, I also install a lot of Lynnwood Harrels brakes, yep there A+ too, all brakes increase noise but that's why we have ear plugs and muff's,,,,, hell I've got a 223 that's got a brake,,,,,,,, and it's soooooo sweet to shoot,,,,,,,,

the wind is my friend,,,,,,,,,,,

I have a break on all of mine......

my barrel lengths are long + break.

They are a shear joy to shoot with a brake, and I believe that I shoot them much more accurately.

We shot p. dogs for many years. Partner and I had ear plugs in our ears + electronic ear muffs...hearing was in the normal range were we could speak in soft whisper and still hear.

What is a real BOOMER is to put a brake on a 21 1/2" barrel...holy cow...not much fun at all. The longer barrel really gets the consusion away from you head.

My 6 BR weighs 18 lbs, 28" MHV with a 3" break.

Good luck!

Brake on my 6x284

Normal rifle with out brake if I'm the only one shooting I can get by with out muffs. Not so with my braked 6x284.That rifle sounds like a Atom Bomb, but does significantly reduce recoil.
