Moving backer rubber

The backer system at our club uses rubber belting to hold the cards in place and I assume like most clubs to aid in seeing the bullet holes while shooting.

What do you guys use for belting?

Something that has some thickness and lasts a while.

Rubber target backer material

Try Firestone RubberGard 60-Mil EPDM Roofing Rubber or equivalent material.

Belting

See if you find a gravel pit/mine, sand pit or maybe a grain elevator that uses belts to move product, see if they have any old belts to be disposed of. Its generally a pain to get rid of. I'm in West Tx area and my company used to use 10's of thousands of feet of belts in the past, we now 3rd party it out, but in the day I remember how hard it was to get rid of. Kind of like used tires...

Thanks

Thanks for the few tips

Never thought of the rubber used in roofing. Contacted a roofing company yesterday. We are going to get some that was pulled off of a roof replacement to see the condition of the rubber and how it handles bullets after they pass.

It is thinner than I would like but can maybe double it up. Ideally would like .090 but that is custom order.

And thanks to those who PM'd.

I'm one of those with access to stone quarry (rock pit) conveyor belting and have hung over 300ft of it in the last month.

It's nowhere near thin enough if you need .090

I have belting ranging from 36" wide to 60" wide and while some of it is .370-ish in the middle the base thickness at edges seems to run from 1/2" to 5/8"

For asstd sheet stock I've used Parkrose, Grainger and TAP plastics here locally, not sure of your sources up there in Koo'LooKoooKooKoooLoooKooKoooooLand

works fine have used for 35 yrs hanging behind white metal to help show up better. Shilotte figures.

Dana had some old inner tubes from trucks and tractors...When shot is appears as bird shot(but close up nice), then holes develop when folks shoot their groups in same spot. I like my groups to the right of bull, outside....most folks don't shoot here. Not sure what we use now.
