What is the most X's that has been shot in 100 yard Varmint for score?
Is 20X's unheard of?

Fe1,
a 250-25x is the perfect score in VFS competition and it has been shot several times (there are shooters that have shot it multiple times). The game has moved on to needing to count wipeouts (completely taking out the dot) in order to break any records.
At 200yds it is a different story, however.
You can check out the current records here: www.internationalbenchrest.com under records section.
At most of the larger matches on the east coast you will need to put up 20 or more x's to win. Out west they struggle to shoot as well as we do and 17 or 18 will usually do...LOL!!

Probably the easiest way to answer your question would be to go to the IBS web site and look at the match results. It is a rare 100 match anymore that isn't won by a 250-20X +. My 1st match, back in '08 I shot a 250-19X and was feeling good about it until I found out that it was a 4th place finish. There are a lot of 250-25X shot anymore.

Don, Just to clarify something, while 25X is not a rarity any more, only 2 were shot in competition last year. 25X is not a forgone conclusion. 20-24X are a whole lot more common.

Thanks for the help guys.
Boy, I got my bubble popped.I thought I was almost aces w/ 200,16X's and 8 wipeouts on official IBS Hunter rifle 100 yd targets(20 record shots, max of 10 points each target for a total of 200 points). But we are limited to 2.25" forends by our club rules.Handicapped for the registered matches, LOL. Its a 30BR. I never knew about the wipeouts but an excellant way of breaking ties.
Appears we are wayyyy behind the times here in the east Tx piney woods.
But it is a new club record and Fun while the thought lasted.-from the rifle range to the internet. Ha Ha

David, thanks for keeping me straight. I went back and looked at the match results for last year. There are lots of 22-24X's but the 25 is hard to come by. That's a good argument against the "worst edge scoring" that comes up ever so often.

fe1, You might enjoy bringing your rifle down to Tomball for the club matches there. The next will be June 3. Lots of good shooters there with hot 30's. It will take 20+ to do well there.
