Mod. 70 rear sight

Got a question for you model 70 guys. Bought me an old lyman receiver sight for my 100 win. Got to looking at other mod. 70s with receiver sights and some of them had the rear sight removed, couldn't find pictures of a 100 with a receiver sight, do you have to remove the rear sight to see down the barrel,is it in the line of sight? I was hoping you could flip it down and get it out of the way. Im not knocking the sights off a 60 year old rifle. thanks, Doug

If you retain the present front sight you will have to remove the barrel rear sight. Otherwise you essentially will be sighting through both sets of sights.
