The Rock had a makeover and today was the first match on the new range. The range looks really good and the match went off without a hitch thanks to the work of Phillip Curtis. The makeover seems to have taken some of the nasty off the rock, the previously favored conditions seem to still be the condition of choice but the less favored conditions don't seem to be nearly as bad as they were and it seems to have made bench draw neutral as the conditions seem to be very similar across the range unlike before when the right side had a distinct advantage under some conditions. It will take awhile to determine the total outcome of the remake but first impressions are very favorable. One thing that didn't change is Cuz'n Roy Darnell won in VFS with a 250-23x, Dale Avery was 2nd w 250-23x also, Ronnie Davis was 3rd w 250-18x. We had a new shooter in modified class Butch Mays' grandson Brandon Mays and he took them to school with a stellar score of 250-15x with a 221 fireball , great shooting by a nice young man. George Neal was 2nd with a 249-14x score and James Davis was 3rd with 249-9x. We had a pretty good turnout with 16 shooters 11 VFS and 5 Mod. Dale Avery was shaking down a new gun and it seemed to be an enjoyable ride for both. They will shoot the last saturday of the month thru Oct. so come on out and try a piece of the new rock, it's still a great place to shoot. Congrats to all that shot well and thanks to all that helped with the match.
