For you guys using LT 30 in your 30brs. What is the usual load for LT30? I am currently loading 34.3 grs. H4198 with Bib 118 bullets. Would like to give LT 30 a try.
 
my buddy was using 36 with 115's but would not be consistent
in my rifle so i went to h4198.

You can try between 36 & 37 grains if you really want to try it. Personally I would stay with the H4198. If you want to try something that works just as good if not better try Vihtavuori N130. I have a number of barrels that prefer the N130 over the 4198.

Try some Reloader 7

I have been using it for at least 10 years and most of the barrels I have used it in during that time have loved it. 34.4 has worked the best for me with a seating depth of .006" from where you can just see land marks on a polished bullet. No point in tuning without a benchmark, is there? I have found that 30's shoot best with very light jam, but they do prefer some; most of them , anyway. I always start tuning @ .006" in and vary the powder by .2. there is a sweet sport there @ 34.4 or so with either 4198 or Reloader 7, when you use the method I just outlined.

I gave up on trying to beat the wind flags with heavy loads. A tiny round hole in the paper and a good read on the wind trumps speed any time, from what I have experienced.

34.5 to 35.0 LT-30 with .005-.010 jam with BIB 112 bullets work exceptionally well together.

34.5gr of LT-30 BIB 112 .008 jam 21-1/2 inch barrel runs 3024 fps average from my Labradar.

Give it a try you might like it!

you are 1000' above sea level or at least the place I shot at in Iowa was. Higher altitudes = thinner air = faster speeds. We are a couple hundred feet above sea level here. I had two cronos at one time and sold one; never use the one I have now. I am only interested in a single bullet hole group and one not much bigger than .308.

A friend gave me some but I haven't tried it. He has had no luck with the lot he has. He went back to his 4198.

LT-30 isn't all bad

Last year at the short range Ntls. LT-30 won the HBR 100 Yd. At the Long Range Ntls. it won the 300 Yd. VFS. Jack

I bought all I could afford from Powder Valley back in April, interesting thing is that it is all 2011 manufacture where has it been the last 5 years ???? First time I have seen it for sale in a decade, my 1995 lot is about gone. I have a 222 that loves the stuff !!!
