Loose spots in barrels???

Hi Gang:

I just returned a rifle to the store due to it having a loose spot about 9" doen the barrel. My question is will these loose spots affect accuracy and so by how much?

This the third rifle that I have owned thad did have a loose spot. Two I never shot and the one that I did shoot was a .222 That would only shoot 1` 1/2" groups.
Any other people ever shoot rifles that had a loose spot in them? What were your results?

TIA,

Zeke

Zeke,
There are many things about mass produced factory rifles that are degrading to accuracy, and yes,non uniform bores are certainly on that list.
Now, for blasting a deer at 80yds,none of that stuff matters, but if you are into varmint shooting( with a .222 or similar chambering),You can keep buying factory rifles hoping to get lucky, or like the rest of us "bug hole junky's" you can acquire a more accurate rifle with a custom "match grade barrel". It's a threshold you cross, never to return to what used to be.
Are you ready for that next step ?
