loading dies

I have just for the first time used a set of redding dies in .308 cal. I noticed that I had a small ring and some scratches on the bullet when seating them. They were sized with rcbs dies some time back. Only thing I can think of is that the rcbs die sized them small making it tight to set the bullet or that the seating die has a rough place in it. Has anyone seen this
when seating bullets.

Yes...try running the cases in the sizing die just enough to let the expander ball go thru the neck and back out..use a little lube and clean the neck out..then re campher the inside of the mouth of the case....if your dies don't use a expander ball ,try cleaning the inside of the case neck with a old bore brush in a drill for a couple of seconds.......also clean the seating stem inside area where it contacts the bullet to make sure it makes good contact evenly with the bullet I wouldn't worry untill the same problem shows up in the second loading.....then it could be mismatched sizing die to your case neck wall thickness and expander-if the die has one....some dies are tighter and have different expander sizes from brand to brand and even in "manu. runs" of dies...according to the life of the reamer-tooling......hth...good luck and good shooting-loading!!
