Finder

I have had one for several years without any issues at all. It will amaze you with its ability to range small objects. Battery life is great. One 9 volt will last a long time. Before I bought it I went to a lot of web sites that had hunters that used range finders and they all said it was the best of the bunch. Now mine is the older "flat" model but I think the new one shaped a bit differently. Best I can tell the new model will range on a moving animal and the older ones like mine will not. I don't think it would make a bit of difference one way or the other.

Range finder

I've had mine for about 6 years. Excellent range finder. Downside is trying to hold it on the target at long distances. Since there is no tripod screw hole, I had to rig a device to hold it steady while depressing the ranging button. Only a problem beyond say 600 yards.

cool....I reckon I could make a cheaper version of the tripod adapter Leica sells...

I have both the 800 and 1200 yard flat models. If its snowing or raining they don't work. They must hit a snowflake/raindrop or two and this gives you bad readings. If your on flat ground like when huinting prairie dogs and the sun is up you lose alot of your ranging ability.
I also had a Bushnell 800 and it had the same restrictions.
Despite those limitations it is a very nice unit and it coupled with a good range card will drasticaly improve your hit ratio.
