Items purchased today locally for reloading the .223 rem will they work? Thanks!

It appears you have made some good choices to begin loading for a wide variety of bullet weights in the .223
If I remember correctly, you also bought an RCBS case trimmer?

Hi Art, The barrel twist is 1:9 Thanks for testing me I need that. Lol.

For reference here is a good rundown on bullet diameter, bullet weight, and barrel twist from our friends at Shilen Rifles: http://www.shilen.com/calibersAndTwists.html.

For your twist, Ronnie Check's 63 grain .224 bullet might be a good choice. Here's Ronnie's link: http://www.rcheek.com/.

About a month after I started reloading, I got lucky and shot a .084 five-shot group with his 63 grain bullet using the same twist that you're using and the load I recommended earlier. No, I didn't measure it. Virg Howarth our match director happened to be at the range the same day and he did the measuring. When that fifth bullet went through that tiny hole I was hooked on reloading forever.

At the time I was shooting a Savage Model 12 VLP-S that I had trued, timed, and stocked by Fred Moreo with a minimum chamber .223 Remington, Douglas barrel. I had added a Rifle Basix Sav 2 trigger myself. :)

Varget is okay for small bullets in .223, but I like Benchmark and AA2230 better. They measure easier and fit in the case a little better.
