Over the past few months I've been reading like crazy and burning spare time that should be going to all the other stuff that life throws you. The reading is working but a little slow and seems this could take way to much time.
I'd like to order up a Bat action but all the specs to ask are not on my list(I'm not sure what half could be) . Even this morning I read for a hour about free bore.
The point of this post is , I need a list for specs on a Bat model B in 6br. I'm going to keep this short and get back after work.
The Title? I'll do PMs or public for all to put in they're 2 cents. I just need to get on a faster roll.
Thanks guys and see you this afternoon, Tom

Ask whatever gunsmith youre going to use. A good rifle builder will know exactly what you need instead of you putting together a list of opinions and averaging that. Matter of fact the good ones wont even put it together if its not gonna shoot so just start there. Picking a good rifle builder is way more important than gathering intel off the net.

Ba-da-BOOM!!!

The builder is 10 times more important than the parts IMO (an opinion formed from having spent many thousands of dollars foolishly trying to save a buck)

Tom, I have two BR rifles both built on BAT Actions. One is a 30BR the other a 6PPC. Both were built by Billy Stevens. Billy is not only a fine gunsmith but also a competitor at the national level. He builds great rifles and will readily discuss your options and answer any and all questions. Here's his site: http://stevensaccuracy.com/html/benchrest.html :)

Fair enough. See you guys are tutors with out even knowing it.
On a second note and I understand this is a what ever you want to spend question,do you have a guess on the hours for barreling and fitting, bedding (pillar) if I have all the components sent sent to one shop.
Thanks, Tom

what I mean if you want a normal chamber the gunsmith will have it. then its just paying for the job. if you decide to stray away from the norm its gonna run you in time and materials getting reamers made cause the freebore is off .002 from what somebody said you need or whatever. getting barrels is the wait right now unless you get a full retail one from like bullets.com or something.

When I started shooting benchrest I bought a used rifle and put a new barrel on it. I thought I knew what I wanted, but my ideas changed after talking to more people at matches, experience, ect. The next gun was exactly what I wanted and the used gun was a spare for a few years until I purchased another new one.

A good gunsmith is important...... but no matter how good he is...they can`t make cheap barrels great or loose actions perform at a BR level.....
