Ideas for "after" the tournament

Coondog kid posted an idea about shooting group with a Hunter gun and it got my rusty gears turning. What about "games" after the tournament? These "games" could be done the night before day 1 or after the first day (assuming a 2 day match - second day people want to get out of there). These ideas would need to be quick/simple and not require a lot of work by the people hosting the match (they are already doing a lot) yet still might make a little bit of money. Here are a couple ideas that I have thought of in the past:

1. Everyone set up their equipment with 10 loaded rounds. Other participants could shoot other's set up. 5 rounds then switch. Or locals, not involved in BR, could shoot these rifles to see if they like BR. Ok...that isn't a money maker but would still be fun.

2. During the postal tournament that Steve Grosvenor and I ran for a couple years, I came up with a sheet of paper that had all 52 cards in a deck on it. Each card had a different sized dot (X) on it. You get 5 shots to make the best poker hand. $5 to enter - winner takes half - club gets half.

3. One 5 shot group with Hunter gun. (this came from Coondog's thread). $5 to enter - winner takes half - club gets half.

Just some ideas.

We used to do that - back in the old days - now, people just want to go party after the Sat. shootin' is over.:pRG

When Joe ran the matches in St Louis he had a few fly shoots on Friday for $$. Seems like everyone enjoyed it.

After the Match

Dave, Your idea has merit but how about this for an after the match venue: we all get liquored up, doff our clothes and have an NBRSA vs Victoria's Secret models nude mud wrestling match. You supply the models. I will supply the booze and even dig the pit. Tim

We had a fun match at Seymour between the 200 HV and the 100 HV. There were 8 - 3/4” diameter Tums and 2 - 3/8” diameter orange Tylenol’s hot glued to a black poster board cut to fit in the 200 yard target frame. Five targets where the sighter board was and five where the record target would be. You took ten rounds to the line to break the ten targets. With Seymour’s mirage you could not see shots on the black background. Not everyone who was there shot it, but those who did enjoyed it. Very difficult to hit without being able to see where you were hitting on the target. Joe Hargadine broke all ten of them. At the directors meeting this year, it was voted to allow clay target matches to be registered for a one year trial basis. Several clubs in the Gulf Coast region are shooting clay pigeon matches at 250 yards and 400 yards. The Tums target was an attempt to downsize it to be able to shoot it at 200 yards as most ranges don’t have the longer range capability.
