IBS Nationals Day Three - start of the bag guns...

Today conditions were mild by Weikert (Union County Sportsmen's Club) standards and many of the aggs showed it, particularly in Sporter which was contested this afternoon.

In LV100 Hal Drake led the way. He set aside his 30 and shot a 6PPC to a .1712 with Col. Billy Steven hot on his heels. Despite the gentle, albeit tricky zephyrs, only four of the 96 shooters were under .200 for their five targets. Attached is a photo of the top 20 in LV100.

Conditions were even more benign in the afternoon, with the top 16 in the teens. Bill Symons put away his rail gun which he piloted to HB200 and HB Grand wins. Mr. Symons shot a potential SP100 record of a teeny-tiny .1344 aggregate. Terry Leonard's .15xx was good for second with Don Rosette not far behind. Hall Drake had another .17xx agg so he is off to a stellar start with the 10.5 classes.

Mark Trutt is doing his usual great job as RO. He was spelled on one of the HB aggregates by Mike Mastrogiovanni from Syracuse, NY. The hard work of Mark Trutt and Dale Boop is really showing as the range is in excellent shape despite a lot of rain last week. They added four benches for a total of 40. We are running 3 relays which will accommodate the expected additional HV shooters on Friday and Saturday. We anticipate a total of 105 in HV.

Also, IBS 2nd VP, John Cascarino shot a SP100 small group of .056". This range measurement is .010 smaller than the existing record.

Thanks also to Kim Amatrudo who is honchoing the stat house.
