Does anyone have the list and who was awarded these Awards? I see all the other Photo's on the IBS site But these. It would be ashame to let these awards go to the wayside and be forgotten as well as the rules that cover these awards. All those clubs that had these type of shooters and have'nt turned this info in to the proper people of the IBS, Shame on you for robbing these people out of a possible award. I hope by posting this, something will be done to correct this on going error.

3)
Rookie Award:
Any Group Shooting competitor that has two years or less experience in Group Shooting competition shall be eligible to compete for the Rookie Award. The Chairperson shall keep records based on achieving 1 point for each competitor beaten at registered tournaments. Rookies need to be designated in the match results (Official Score Bulletin). The Award will consist of a Keeper plaque paid for by Precision Shooting.
4)
Precision Rifleman/Woman Awards:
a)
The Precision Rifleman/woman award system was developed to recognize the accomplishments of shooters that have consistently performed well at registered IBS Tournaments over a period of time.
b)
There are three levels of achievement recognized. These levels are achieved through point accrual. The levels are Bronze for 30 Points, Silver for 60 Points, and Gold for 100 Points.
c)
A shooting jacket embroidered with the shooters name is awarded for the Bronze level. A certificate is awarded for the Silver and Gold accomplishments.
d)
The presentation of the awards is made at the International Championships.
e)
A master file of all IBS Shoot reports is kept by the President or his/her designated representative. A file is also kept for any shooter that has earned any points. The final responsibility for tracking points rests with each individual competitor. The Second Vice President is accountable for verifying all points prior to the awarding of any of the three achievement levels to a competitor.
f)
The points are to be determined based on the attendance at the shoot. The beginning number of competitors at each of the distances determines the points that will be awarded the winners. The number of competitors in the Grand Aggregate determines the number of points to be awarded for the winners in the Grand.

Hello BMF, I have had the same questions. I have made contact with some of the ibs officals and the answer i have been getting is that not all clubs kept track of this. They said they were having the clubs that did not keep tract go back and get the information. It has been several weeks and i still have not heard anything. I would also really like to see the list.

Hi Brian

This is not exactly what I had in mind when I asked members of the 600yd IBS long range committee which you where one of for 2009 to work with the Clubs to get the information so we can determine the rookie, female and junoir soy's. To the Ibs 600 yd shooters we are in the process of getting this information.

Brian the precision rifleman program that you have referred to is a completly different program and has nothing to do with the shooter of the year program. I thought you would have known that since you where on the committee last year. The actual shooter of the year programs can be found on the IBS web site under news at the bottom of that web page.

We are working to get the information to complete the soy awards and as soon as that is complete it will be posted on the IBS web site.

If anyone has questions please e-mail me at l.fischer@elkinco.com rather than use this great forum. Brenda we are working on this so please give us some time.

Thanks

Lee

thank's for the correction Lee your right. I geuss i am confused on what rules in the book are really rules and enforced by the committee. You know as well as i do that we had a committee member e-mail us and stated, (if i remember correctly, If not that person can come on and correct me) he thought they agreed years ago to either not track that or something along those lines. Looking back, i tend to beleive that happened. If someone wanted to see who won last year or the year before where could they go to look? Who is the person in charge of tracking these awards? Don't ya think it's their responsibility to gather all the info before the winter meeting. As far as this wonderful website, seems like that's the only way that the shooters keep informed on what's going on and what is being worked on. I am assuming the 600yd nationals are still on at St.Louis like the schedule say's. Reason being that a committee member was'nt really sure or was not informed of the current update. There's no mention of who was awarded the nationals on the IBS web. When is the election of the 600yd committee by the shooters? or is the committee going to call around like they are doing and get the people they want that interrupt the rules like they do. Again thanks for the correction.

Committees Reconstitution
Elections were held for the Score and Group Committees. The 600-1000 yard shooters will, at a later time,
elect their committee members.

You are incorrect in your assumptions and I do not understand if in fact you had issues with the committee or what the committee did why you did not express them to the committee while you where on the committee, and you know you did not. In any case I will e-mail you directly.

volunteer

Mike

1. a person who enters or offers to enter into any service of his own free will.

That's from Webster's Dictionary.

Yes, there is more to be done to finalize the 2009 season.
Yes, the committee and the clubs could have done more.

Yes we need another committee member for 600 yds.
Yes we need someone to keep the points for 2010
Yes we need that person to review the 2009 season

Please circle your answer and return this to the committee.

Yes, I would love to volunteer and give something back to the sport, to be on the committee and keep the SOY points.

No, I prefer to sit back and whine.

One half of the "Lee and Dave show". Another intellectual comment.

I am sorry that you feel the committee is not moving fast enough to resolve this situation. The fact of the matter is all Committee members and the keepers of the points are volunteers. They all give back to the sport for the rest of the shooters. It is obvious that the 600 yard keeper of the points did not complete the list for 2009 and we are as Dave indicated, are looking for a volunteer to step up to the plate and take this on. That is to complete the 2009 soy list and keep the 2010 list.

All the criticism and innuendos’ in the world do not change this fact, there was a failure and the committee is trying to correct it. So if you really do feel this strongly about this situation why don’t you volunteer some of your personal time and help correct the situation! It is very easy to critize from the sidelines. Some of the Committee members have been giving up there personal time for years for the rest of the shooters in this sport (giving back to the sport). What have you done!

Yes it is going to take some more time to reslove this and as soon as the committee does resolves it, the committee will let the shooters know.

If anyone else would like to help please contact me or one of the other committee members.

The frustration about this whole thing is { correct me if I wrong} that none of this things have been done for the last 4 years. When a question is ask, all of a sudden there is an uproar. The presistance of these questions is being rebutted with why don't you become a committee member. For many of us that participate there is never going to be a dollar gained. Thats the majority of the shooters. A lot of people call them field fillers. For a very select few these things are there business. Gunsmithing stock building bullet making at some point and time these people who have a monatary value in being associated with the ibs have got to throw the field fillers a bone. We as shooters, ask very little. We buy these peoples barrels, bullets and all other components. We not only spend our money for travel we spend valuable time supporting the ibs. The way the 600 yard ibs should be handled is we all go to our private back 80's and pratice for a once a year nationals.
Surley records can be kept for one match.

I do not understand your premise at all??? The people working for the IBS are all volunteers and receive no money what so ever for what they do for the IBS. If you think these are paid jobs you are sadly mistaken! What they do to make a living, put a roof over there family’s heads and feed them is irrelevant and has absolutely nothing to do with the IBS...

I have never heard the term “field fillers” what it means nor where it cam from. But who ever coined it I am sure was also sadly mistaken.

Obviously you are simply not understanding the problem. In 2008 to my knowledge there was not a junior or female soy, going back to the first two years I would have to take a look at the rules at that time. But 2009 soy results were not completed by the individual who volunteered to do this for no money! At this point their reasons for not completing the list are also irrelevant. What is relevant is completing this list, completing the 2010 list and adding another 600 yard shooter to the committee.

The IBS appreciates all the shooters who support it by attending matches. But sometimes that is not enough, to keep the organization going some shooters have to give more and that is they need to give there personal time and that is what all officers and committee members of the IBS do. And just to state again all officers and committee members working for the IBS receive no compensation – money - .

So again we are asking for your help or any other shooters help to join the committee and help get these things done. I can not make it any plainer than that!!!

By the way the IBS already has agreed to provide the related plaques once the results are finalized.

If you would like to discuss this further feel free to call me tomorrow.

Just a thought!!

Has it ever been thought of to let the people who are supposed to take care of these matters shoot for free at these IBS functions? Maybe that would end some of this bitterness. Can't we all just be appreciative of what we do have in this sport.

perspective

I was watching the news tonight. 42 years ago today US Armed Forces recaptured the city of Hue, South Vietnam at the end of the Tet offensive. 41 years ago today I was there. 41 years later we still have Men and Women in harms way protecting our freedom. With all do respect, I don't give a damn about the SOY points but I'll work to get this straightened out as soon as possible.
