HS Precision stock & Krieger barrel profile

Hi all

I've bought an HS Precision PST025 stock.

http://www.stockysstocks.com/servlet/the-370/Remington's-M-dsh-24-Sniper-Tactical/Detail

The description states that it is inletted to suit a 5R Mil Spec barrel (up to 0.980" muzzle diameter).

Which Krieger barrel profiles would suit:

#10 MTU, #17 Heavy Varmint, or #14 Heavy Palma with finished lengths of 26, 28 & 30", respectively?

The action is a Remington 700 SA.

Any comments about the ability of the action to support the weight and length of the barrel are also welcome.

Thanks
Ben

I'm now considering a repeater Alpine action from Borden Rifles or a Predator from Stiller as an alternative to the trued Remington 700.

I've ordered the Wyatt extended feed magazine box (MBE-4) to suit the 300 WSM or 300 RSAUM that I intend to chamber the rifle in.

I'm guessing that a 1:11 twist will be best for the 210 grain pills, but how long should the barrel be?

This rifle will be used almost exclusively for F-class, but my vanity won't let me do away with the magazine on a tactical stock.

TIA

Ben, get your tape out....................

and measure from the lug area, to the end of the forend of your stock. Write that measurement down, then decide from looking at the Kreiger catalog approximately how much you want to take off the rear of the barrel. Now you should have a pretty close idea as to how long the barrel will turn out. Good Luck, and HTH.
