What round count do you clean? Its a ezell rimfire . I cleaned it once and can't believe how nasty it was. Also will the crud in it affect your tune? Mike

Why don't you just call Mike Ezell. I'm sure that he knows more about his own tuner than anyone.

I clean my cf tuner almost every time I fit it to a new barrel. ;)

The rf tuner is made a little differently and has a tube that is meant to be cut off or to your specific PRx length. That tube and rf ammo being somewhat nasty, does collect some gunk but I've never seen it affect tune. I know that a lot of rf shooters never move their tuner so, I guess in theory, if you're STILL one of those people, it could.
Shorten the tube and it'll collect less stuff but clean it as often as you see fit....or move it a mark or two. It won't bite.

If you take it apart to clean, I do recommend loosening the nylon tipped set screws around the tuner itself before needlessly twisting it off while they are snugged up. They should be adjusted by running them in to just touch, plus 1/4-3/8 of a turn after touching off on the threads. DO NOT lock them solid. They're pretty tough but not as tough as galling the tuner in place. That's only happened on one that I know of and the guy admitted that he didn't read the instructions nor heed my in person instructions on this. He ASSumed they should be locked down and that is not correct. This is an aspect of the tuner that I consider to be a big plus, as it sets the tension against turning while leaving it adjustable without the need for tools nor being stuck with any given detent values. Vibration management is also a reason for the design. It rides on an o-ring at the rear and the three nylon tipped set screws, on the threads. This loads the threads against both turning and from bad juju when fired. Works great. If it didn't work, it wouldn't shoot in a large bucket.

I'm happy to be of help any time. Send me a pm and I can get you my phone number if phone is best.--Mike Ezell
