Greg,
I'd usually be more on the order of 4 as well. But if it was really windy, I'd go with 2. Sometimes never even on paper even though it could be marked if I did. I had pretty good luck with score as well, and I'd say 75% of the time, I'd go from the 5:45 point to 0:45 without sending a shot. Those never told me anything anyhow. And if it was changing, there wasn't much I could do about it anyhow.
I never oiled a barrel. Mine were shot dry, so shot one was usually dead on where the next one was going. Again, that's IF I trusted the gun. In cases where I didn't, well, that didn't work out so well, but, who ever won with a gun that sucked anyhow.
I've shot very little since they changed the sight in rules up here (which I thought was a crock of __). LIke, it's just Sooooooo much work to actually mark the target. Build new pits, and don't mark the damn target anyhow. Brilliant eh? I don't even want to get started!
I've won a score shootoff with one sighter. Shot a 100 with 2. But in both cases, I'd admit there may have been luck involved.
