you said 222.5 That could be the 222.5 of shillen if that what it is it's made from 222 mag cases with the shoulder pushed back .

I would have a chamber cast made to see just what you have there.

Just a guess, but with the name Berger stamped on the barrel, I figure it was probably barreled by Nelson Berger.

I'm going with what GerryM said - make a chamber casting.

You could, but it's not my recommendation, shoot a fully loaded 222 and then measure the case. Mickey Coleman told me that's how he made 222.5 cases. I wouldn't do this unless I could pull the trigger with a string from a safe location. Wait a bit for others to post before you consider doing this so they can offer their thoughts. The only reason for writing this is trying to save the trouble and expense of a chamber casting.

Or just get it rechambered into something you can use. Its a worn out barrel as far as you know and you know nothing about it. Like all used guns- do not plan on using the barrel thats on it

Looks like a virgin stainless steel barrel i have seen some old timers say they wish

they didn't sell so I want to try

Nothing wrong with giving it a try the way it is.
do yourself a favor and make a chamber cast identify the case If it's a 222 1/2 it easy to make cases.
You may only need a set of 222 dies and minor accesories
