I was in my local gun store today and noticed he was almost out of powder so i asked him why and he said that the powder companies are getting ready to make powders that expire in a years time by some kind of chemical reaction. Is this possible for them to make powder that will expire like that? Has anyone else heard of this?

Maybe not. After all, didn't Bill Gates make most of the computer hardware & peripherals in the world obsolete with Windows Virus, sorry Vista?

The Bigest Problem is Hogdon...

They control the distribution of almost every make of Powder in America.

My rumblings that I hear is that powders are going to only be available in one pound jugs.

This makes the price go up....

I was watching Lou Dobbs and others late last night, and their research indicated that the new "administration" will probably not ban firearms, but will cleverly tax ammo (for some reason, I recall by as much as 500%, but I think I was just too sleepy!). The point they made was that by heavily taxing the ammo, they'll force millions to leave their guns in the safe (or on the gun rack, as they said).

So, the bad guys won't spend the $$ to practice? High ammo costs will reduce crime?
Where is the logic in that?

Powder

The way I see it: our political "leaders", ( a mis-nomer if there ever was one), do not care about what the criminals do. Their main concern is to get the firearms out of the hands of the honest, law-abiding citizens. In their warped mentality, we are their biggest threat to their continued destruction of what was once a free country. We are rapidly sliding down a slippery slope, with a Socialist form of government waiting at the bottom, and most are concerned with "I wonder what Oprah will be talking about today: can't wait to find out".

New Administration = hording

Pure BS on the expireing powder....

BIG run on powder aft the new "Pres" took office..... Primers too. + the war is still draining production ability from the manufactures.

Gonna be alot of "speculation" but the horders are gonna be ordering as much as they can afford....

About the only way that powders could be made to decompose magically after a year would be to take them out someplace and burn them. Organic compounds tend to be fairly delicate and unstable anyway so anything else would lead to more problems than it'd solve. Not that anything like that would stop a dedicated anti-gunner.

I remember many years ago that Neal Knox reported that BATF wanted all smokeless powders identified with markers that would allow them to be identified if they were used to make bombs. The powder makers and reloaders raised a stink about it because it would likely increase unstability.

This same thing was going around about primers a few years back when primers were hard to get, that primers were being reformulated so that they'd only last a year. Just short supply due to high demand.

I guess we forget what is going on in the State legislatures in 18 States? This is change we can believe in? Or is this what and Obama-nation looks like?:D

Better get used to this kind of stuff. Short supplies, etc, high taxes, etc. Welcome to the U.S.S.A. And if you can't figure that one out...........
