A "B" action was the one to have back in the day. Made a great heavy. The "M" made a pretty good lite gun.

When we started building actions in the 1980's we patterned ours after the Hall B (which was a fantastic receiver)







Not having to broach raceways simplifies machining. The other upside is we can achieve very tight bolt to receiver tolerances.
