do ya think gun classifieds have inflated prices ?
i work part time in a gun shop and all i hear is " this gun sells for x dollars on the classifieds "
i don't think there is such a thing as a bargain anymore, unless ya find some
poor guy needin quick cash..

heck, ammo prices are so high, ya know the guys buying them can't afford to shoot a lot nor can they find ammo to burn up ?????
 
I think the classified ads are very inflated for the most part, i work at a gunshop in ohio and the owner is also a gunsmith, we run the store but also go to gunshows too and i'm exposed to lots of different gun buying avenues and yes the prices just balloon, the only way we ever get deals is like you said when a guy comes of the street needing money, or if we buy junk, repair it and resell it, you can almost never get a good deal from the newspaper around here, everyone wants brand new prices for used stuff. However, a guy came in last week and i bought 3 guns from him, a Rock River Arms AR-15 with all after market matchgrade parts, bipod, scope, laser, flashlight, 5 mags, and an ammo can full of bullets for $600, and a $1000 shotgun for $200, and a nice little ruger 10/22 all decked out for competition shooting for $300, the bargains are out there, you just gotta be in a position to find them, working in a gun store and having a gunsmith as your boss helps alot lol

I think I saw this guy.... He sold me a bridge in New York for about the same price.

Yes, most prices are high but do you know why? Because the good prices on on guns or scopes are gone within minutes. If you find something you want and it is reasonably priced then don't ask a bunch of silly questions or it will be gone by someone who say " I'll take it." The seller takes the add off and most of us will never have seen it.
If you are looking for something where do you go to find it? If I wait to look through all the junk at a gun show I will pay the extra price in gas driving around to save a buck compared to a click of the mouse and the man in brown has it at my door in a few days.
Just communicate with the guy you are buying from and make sure it's what you want or don't buy it.
 
Gun Shows are like Swap Meets.The same bunch of guys peddling the same pile of iron at such high prices nobody will ever buy it.

Go where the action is

The best way to find a fair price of the type gun you want, is to go to an event that use that type of equipment. 50% of the time, someone will have an extra he willing to part with, so he can buy another more expensive one.
