Several of you have shot with my Grandson Josh. He is a pretty good kicker for the highschool football team. He was called up to the varsity as a sophmore for the playoffs last year.He didn't miss his field goals or extra points. His first game last week he kicked a 51 and 35 yd field goals and made his only extra point. I was very happy to see channel 5 Dallas showing Josh as their lead in player from last nights game. His first field goal was 53yd and the second 47yds. He made all 7 extra points. They said Josh could be the best kicker in the state. He also averaged 41yds as a punter. Glenn Chism was able to make his game.
We are rightfully proud of our Grandkids, but what is really important to me is that he came to the hospital the last 2 weeks and slept in a chair to be with me. I'll keep you posted with updates as the season progresses. By the way, he plays for the Garland, Tx Owls which is a 5A school.

Butch...

Howdy,
Sorry to hear that you have been in bad health. I am glad to know that you have such a fine grandson!!!

It seems more and more rare that kids today are being raised right. That you have a grandson that will sleep in a chair to be with his Papaw speaks volumes about the young man, his parents, and yep, his Papaw too!

My son is 19, my daughter is 11. Both of them would rather be at Mamaw and Papaw's on saturday night than anywhere else. We always go then, and I am thankful that my kid's want to spend time with my parents. My son in particular, at 19, appreciates the importance of time with Grandparents, even over girls!

My Dad had a lung transplant 2 years ago. It changes perspectives. While it is life, it is highly compromised. If anyone is sick at all, Dad can't be around them as he is immunosuppresed so as to prevent rejection of the lung.

May you and all of your family enjoy time together. Every day is precious!

Good for you Butch, you are lucky to have such a special grandchild. We don't have that kind of relation with our grandkids they live 550 miles away in MI. and we only see them a couple times a year. That is one of the things we miss by retiring here, but we don't miss the fast pace life or the cold and snowy winters.

Sounds like quite the talented young man. Hope you are felling better. Grandkids are good medicine. I took 3 of the Grandsons fishing today. They spent more time chasing frogs than fishing!!!!!!!!!!!!

You got a good one there Butch. As I remember he is not only good at kicking footballs, but has done a fair amount of butt kicking at Denton. For sure mine, but then that ain't saying much. Congratulations and take care of that heart.

Just opened the Dallas Morning News and Josh was Honorable mention player of the week in the Dallas Metroplex area. I called him and he said"What does Honorable Mention mean?"

Grandsons

Butch,
Are'nt grandsons great? I have a 5 year old that I've seen everyday since the day he was born. While we both probably have alot of grandkids, there is always one that's just a little more special than the rest. There is no doubt, they keep us alive.

Ain't nothing better than being a Grandparent. Being a Great Grandparent ain't bad either. My Great Grand Daughter is 20 months old and the first thing she wants to see when gets here is the deer on papaw's wall. Time to close this thread, but hope to post another in a week or two.
