Gator Bag Offset Ears

I'm having a bench gun built (Shehane MBR Tracker fiberglass stock) for LG competition, and I'm considering using the Edgewood Gator bag with offset ears. Does anyone out there shoot this bag? If so, how do you feel about the offset ears? What type of ears--short, medium, tall--would you recommend? The offset ears allows a place to rest your trigger hand. Is this a real plus?
 
I have had a twisted Gator rear bag with medium ears for several years. I like it because for a right hand shooter, it provides a place to rest the little finger and palm side of my rt. hand. This helps with trigger control.

I recently made this same decision for a 13.5# 30BR. I bought the straight Gator, and filled it with heavy sand, because I noticed that a smaller, lighter bag would not stay put on the bench under the recoil of the 30BR. The idea behind getting the straight bag was that the recoil forces would be aligned along the axis of the bag, rather than offset, which might cause the twisted bag to turn. I used the straight Gator the whole season and it never moved. There is enough bag there on the right to rest your knuckles on to control the trigger. I expect the twisted bag is more comfortable, and I might have chosen it for a lighter recoiling rifle.

Don't forget that the distance between the ears is an option, too. I am not sure what is best for the Shehane.
