I guess yall can tell that even tho im 76, im very new at rimfire benchrest. How tight fo yall get your buttons on your tops? Im using an Arnold rest, shooting a vudoo repeater but going to look into buying a used 2500x in 2 weeks.

A clique response... truly a matter of personal preference.
This is regarding a one piece rest
A couple top shooters lock the rifle down for zero recoil.
Another does both. One gun like it the other prefers free recoil.
 
Depending on the stock material. On Wood stocks, use the Fuzzy Buttons, that way you won't dent the stock.
 
Cliff Arnold’s fuzzy button top has the fuzzy buttons mounted on rubber backers. Taking the fuzzy stick’ems off the backers allows a shooter to lock down a wood stock with no damage.
