Friction Block

Years.......... ago I bought a product that had a Smith & Wesson label, called FRICTION BLOCK. If I'm not mistaken I bought it from Precision Reloading in CT. I believe the owner at that time was Peter Maffei. Does anyone know if this is still available, possible under another name. If so where can I locate some.

I remember a product that was around in the late 80's and early 90's called "Action Friction Block". It was made on Hagerstown, Md. and a shooter named Bob Wachter (spelling?) sold it at matches. He also made and sold a powder measure.

My bottle of S&W Friction Block notes it's mfg. as Radiator Specialites in North Carolina. I used it in my 'one shot and clean' days of breaking in barrels. I shyed away from it later when I was told it ".....contained Teflon".

Looks like what it actually contains is Cerflon, which is a type of copolymer more commonly known as boron nitrate.

Good shootin'. -Al

I was the Australian agent for it

It was from Bob Wachter, but I believe he passed away quite a few years ago.

Was available in 2 grades, thick and thin viscosity for different jobs.

S&W took it over from Bob, but not sure what happened after that.

That stuff went by the way side although it may still be available.
rub rub rub it into your barrel and decrease fouling. Like heck it raked havoc with alot of barrels. accuracy decreased instead of increase
we couldn't wait till it got out of our barrels.
maybe good for semi auto pistols
