For a lefty which action

I do shoot centrefre Benchrest and use a left bolt right port action, so I don't want to change to shoot rimfire Benchrest, so no right bolt right port left bolt left port suggestions please. I'm specifically looking for a left bolt right port.

Who makes a left bolt right port rimfire action that is suitable to build a competitive rimfire Benchrest rifle on?

The rifle is a system of parts that have to work together, so which stock, trigger,, barrel, chamber would those with experience in building competitive Benchrest rifles suggest to use?

I know everyone has a preference and an opinion and while I do regarding these questions about what works for me in centrefire Benchrest I need to listen to the opinions and preferences of those that build competitive Benchrest rifles.

Thanks in advance

Ian, I checked and I don't see a Holeshot left bolt option for you. I also checked Vudoo Gun Works, where you can order a complete rifle, if you desire. They have a left bolt, right port option. See below...

Ian, I understand not wanting to go the R/R or L/L route, especially once shooting a lbrp. The ergonomics are so much better.
I don't have any experience with Vudoo's so can't speak to those but do have an older Flash Turbo, a V1 & V3 lbrp guns. All of which have been competitive. To source one may be problematic. Not alot of demand. I've been fortunate buying the Flash & V3 used & the V1 from CM Sorting Goods.
As for stocks, most are shooting a straight line stock these days. Rotex probably by far the most popular it would seem, but they are heavy if thats a consideration. I do not own one of Brent Lidguard's(maybe mis-spelled) stocks but have built a rifle on one. 2nd to none & absolutely stunning finishes. Jim Peightal builds beautiful stocks as well.
Barrels, with Shilen Ratchet's being somewhat unobtainable the go to is Muller/Lakeside barrels. I like 3G Benchmarks.
Triggers, Bix & Andy is the easy button or the Flavio Fare if you can get one.

Is the Vudoo a large tenon action?
there is an interesting thread regarding tenons.

The straight line stock is legal here and is what I would want.
Also legal here is a magazine and given the speed advantage of a magazine some have been successful exploiting this.

i have seen some pics of Jim Peightals stocks and they look fantastic, the coffin shaped butt isnt my favourite. if I could find a straight line stock in the terry leonard shape and the looks of nice wood ie walnut/maple it is something I would like.

Is the laminate stock, like the Rotex, more stable or “better” than the Kevlar laminate walnut/maple stock. Is one type a more consistent base for a good barrel and action?

the weight limit here is the same as the WBSF weight limit.

I believe the Vudoo’s do have the large tenon, but as mentioned, I have no experience with them.
I also like wood stocks & those Leonard stocks are what I wanted too. There is a gentleman that makes one very similar & is what I went with on my V1. Not a straight line but I’ve personally never seen a huge advantage with one.Pictures below.
They’re made with 2 layers of carbon fiber which I’ve tried to show.
He is still making them & if interested in contact info I can get it for you.
As to if the Dymalux is better or not I can only assume being as dense as they are & with all the resin it must be more stable. The Rotex I have was made with something called Spectraply which he no longer offers. It’s rock solid & a tad lighter than Dymalux.
I prefer the one below.

My thoughts about the stock for rimfire would be that a Stright line stock would be more consistent compared to a sloping butt like used in centrefire.
Especially if shooting free recoil, the bullet in a rimfire takes longer to exit the muzzle than in centrefire.

I do like both of these stocks

The Terry Leonard shape with a flat Butt like the above would suit me but perhaps a slightly taller butt.
As I understand rimfires are different to centrefire rifles, I shoot centrefire free recoil but have shot a rimfire that required a slight hold to shoot.

Lets get this back on track, left bolt right port rimfire actions

There have been very few suggestions about this but from what I can gather a .750 tenon diameter is ideal for the barrels used.
This rules out large tenon actions unless very precise work is carried out on them to reduce the tenon size.........more work - extra cost and tolerance stack.

This to me leaves very few actions, that are readily available in left bolt right port.

New it seems Turbo make two the V1 and the V3

Which is best or which do competitors prefer and why?

Used there is the Falcon, how easy are they to come by?

Are there any other options for an action?

Here is one other action you can consider. Walther's KK500 can be purchased as a barreled action and mounted in a BR stock of your choice. It is fully ambidextrous, independently (and easily) L/R selectable by the shooter wrt bolt, loading port and ejection. I love mine, in a custom prone stock. The Walther OEM trigger is every bit as good as a B&A or FF.

The rifle is one of the standouts in ISSF & Olympic competition. I am a club shooter and used mine in Eley's 2023 Benchrest international postal competition. Shooting outdoors front rest, rear bag, at 50 meters on the IR50/50 target, in the Pacific Northwest in November (cold and breezy), it enabled me to post a 6 card final aggregate of 1500-90X.

It's not inexpensive... barreled action from Oberle lists for $3685. But it will perform!
