firing pin shroud

Yes. And it's called the bolt plug.

You are right that most after-market manufacturers call theirs a bolt shroud. But Remington calls it the bolt plug. So hows about we compromise and call it a bolt plug/shroud. ;)

If one thinks about it

It is interesting how so little attention has been paid to making these plugs fit better. The slop in the fit is a known accuracy killer yet few have done anything to fix this issue and no manufacturer I have heard of has come up with a good replacement.

You are right. Most of them are pretty sloppy. I have modified a couple of mine with nylon plugs that ride on the top of the action tang. But, you know what? I still don't shoot well if I ignore the flags. ;)

Fixing the ills that inhabit "shrouds/plugs" has been a standard for not only Remingtons, but also many Customs. There is sort of a cottage industry that has cropped up improving this very criticle area........jackie

How about the quick fix? I have Winchesters in the pre64 and push feed models that require the use of Teflon Tape on the threads to hold that horse.
NO ONE makes anything for the Winchester Shrouds to correct the slop.

and it would be nice to know a source for having one's bolt / shroud situation corrected. I noticed with my new BAT the situation had been dealt with as is my Hall B. Neither of them are Remington Clones, in that area at least. I think there are a lot of us who would take advantage of a service someone was offering for cleaning up this problem.
