Fair price to pay for a Remington 721 in .300 HH?

Hello:

What is a fair price to pay pay for the above rifle?

One came into the local gun store today. It is in good overall used conditiion but the bolt has a fair bit of corrision. The seller is asking $795.00. The long magnum action beckons me!

How much would you offer for the rifle?

I know everything is getting more expensive, but the most I would pay in good shape wood be $300. I have five of these actions and the most I paid was $250! But they are the best action Remington ever made other than the 40X but you will pay bigger bucks for them. Then if you are going to use it for hunting, put a new trigger on it.

If all you want is a long magnum action on a sort-of-700 design, the clones are a better value. I suppose they've gone up like everything else, but a few years ago, they cost around $700. Kiff bolt, every surface true of course, single shot or repeater, whatever you wanted.

The 721 in 300 H&H is beginning to become a collectors item, and value will depend on specifics.
