Would love to hear some pointers from Dick Grosbier on how to tune
a 30 BR
Well Bob
If you are really interested in how I tune my 30BR's I will tell you although there are better people on this forum to ask advice of. I shoot 112 Bibs and sometimes 115 Eubers in 17 - 18 twist barrels. Mostly with 34.5 Grains of H4198 (as long as it is 3000 fps+) and with a lot of neck tension. I use Fed 205 Primers. I shoot a .330" neck 30 BR with loaded round measuring .328 to .3285 measured at pressure ring. For lots of neck tension I use a .323 bushing. The real tuning is seating depth I shoot whatever works best between just kissing the lands all the way to 30 thousandths jam. I much prefer it when a barrel works with just light jam but some barrels I have had just want a lot to work best. Deep into the lands is a real problem if you forget and open the bolt with a loaded round as you get powder all over the bottom of your action. I preload in the comfort of my basement with my RCBS Chargemaster , if it is good enough for Allie it is good enough for me. Oh and I have used loads loaded weeks in advance successfully.

Dick
