Dave Coots on the Cedar River?

Thanks for thinking of me guys. Took everything out of the house, garages, and toy shed. Hauled in 80 loads of clay and built a dike. It has less than an inch to go to crest tonite. I started one pump at 2pm and have been running at high idle, keeping up fine. Should be ok. This one is 3 1/2 feet below the record 2008 flood which eclipsed the old 1961 record by 5 1/2
feet. The guy that built this house put it 2 feet higher than the 1961 level.

They revised the crest, but it should happen soon. Still doing ok. Looks to go in the record books as #2.

Latest weather shows crest at 24 feet. Hope you are way above that. Move down here, we have tall mountains to live on.

Be safe..

.

Do a search for cedar river flood levels at Vinton. It says 21.79 now, a little over the predicted crest. It was 24.7 here in 2008. If you look left and below the graph, it shows the 10 old records.

Hope you, the guns and that fine 409 are stayin' dry! -Al

Damn straight Al, the guns went out to my daughter's and the 09 went to a storage building. The water started receding this afternoon and the dike is holding. Can't post pics from phone...too big. Not much sleep last nite, too old for this crap.

Now you have to move it all back!

But you are safe and that is the important part/

.

Exactly Jerry, too much work, just had another birthday last Wednesday. Water has receded 18", I may win.

Water went down so i could park truck in driveway. Hacksaw came and helped pressure wash the shop. Will haul dike away(80 loads of clay)and put stuff back.

I know this may be a sour

Topic but maybe keep 3/4 of the dike up.

You have a Fedeal election happening shortly. You may need to close it in to create your own country. The country of COOTS......lol

Calvin

PS. I watched the debate from the outside and was thoroughly entertained. I really do not know what to think??????

Flood Pics

Building clay berm...80 loads placed in 14 hours. 5 feet high.

Looking at house from the North which is towards the dry road in aerial pic. Aerial pic about a foot from crest. House is about 90% back together tonite. Took everything out from the ground floor, all appliances, furniture, ect. Also cleaned out 3 car garage and toy shed. Trailer is partly packed to head for Az this week to the Nats. If I don't forget something I will be surprised.
