Today we had a shoot held for the love of the sport and bragging rights between two clubs...Bell City in Southington, CT vs Cherry Ridge in Highland Lakes, NJ. Bob White and I put it together and I can confidently say that each side had a great time. There were scores kept, but they were only a second thought to the fact that of 6 shooters from CT only one had ever been to that range. Moreover, in October, there will be nine out of ten shooters coming from NJ to Southington who have never been there before hopefully growing the sport a little bit more.
There were no match fees, no awards, and no official plaque to commemorate the day. Just a good time shooting groups with guys you've never met, and probably wouldn't have met under any other circumstances.
It was a good day.
NJ took home the bragging rights for the day, and they will bring that with them in October to our last score shoot of the year. There will be a catered lunch from the Hen House Bar-B-Q (I will order a more appropriate amount this time), and it should be a good time.
