Could the rifle be too back heavy

OK - here is the situation. I have several LV-barrels for my light gun, and the barrels are changeable with my HV gun. However, finding that my current heavy barrels does not really perform to the level the lighter barrels does - would I enter any sort of trouble putting my LV barrels on the HV-gun? This is a true HV-stock so no weight can be removed.

Assuming headspace etc is the same . . .

The only thing you can do, that might help, is after putting on the lighter barrel, position the front rest farther back on the stock. Either throw away the forearm stop, or make a longer one.

Rifles that are too butt heavy are no fun to shoot; the forearm tends to ride too light on the front rest, which IMHO can affect accuracy. Moving the rest position can help.

You can put your light barrel on and check the balance by seeing where the pivot point is when holding it under the stock with one hand. They say one inch in front of the action is optimal

If you have any problems with the front end moving around to much maybe a little more sid tension would fix you up?? I wouldnt know for sure. I guess the real test would be to just shoot it and see what happens. I just about bet you will be fine. Something interesting you an do is to put a set of digital scales under your rear bag and slide your rifle forward and backwards. you will be suprised at how much weight transfers, just from slidding th rifle 1" in either direction. You can do it with the front rest as well. Lee
