I'm letting those that knew Chuck Nelson that he has passed. He has been suffering with prostrate cancer for the last couple years. He has been shooting since probably the 70s. I for one will miss him.

Another sad loss for benchrest...

While under going numerous chemo treatments last year, Chuck would show up at all the Raton shoots and tough it out. I always admired the man for his inner strength.

God bless and take care of you Chuck. Our condolences to Chuck's family,

Jim

What a lot of people don't know about Chuck is that he was a B-52 pilot in Viet Nam and later was the Boeing rep. that was on Air Force 1. He flew with Clinton and George W. He had interesting stories. Chuck traveled with Larry Engelbrecht

I was deeply saddened to hear about Chuck. I knew him very well and shot with him at all the matches in the mid-west and Super Shoot. He was a great guy, great sense of humor, and a dedicated competitor. I saw him last at the NBRSA nationals last year at Kansas City. He didn't look well then due to the chemo treatments and I hardly recognized him. I have thought about him frequently the last few months, especially since I had a radical prostatectomy on December 29, 2010 to remove a cancerous prostate. God bless his soul.

I sure wish a picture would be added to these posts. Sometimes it's hard to put the name to the person. Thanks, if at all possible.

Dave, there's a photo at the link to his obituary. I'm sure you'll recognize him from the photo. We've lost too many benchrest shooters over the past few years. I just about hate to look at a post where it mentions someone's name in the post.

Chuck and I were talking one time around about the time the Clinton's left the White House. I knew he was familiar with Air Force 1. I asked him if Air Force 1 was anything like in the Harrison Ford movie. "Not at all." was his reply.
