Just bought my first thumbhole stock for a Remington 700 heavy barreled action. The stock is a used custom laminated Richards Micro with a flat bottom. I got it on Ebay. I normally don't like thumbhole stocks and have never before owned one. But I got a good deal on it and couldn't resist its good looks. I intend to use it for precision paper punching with my Hart rest.
Do any of you guys actually shoot your thumbhole stocks via just gripping it around the pistol grip and just holding it like any other regular stock? It will be awhile before I can get the action and trigger into it, but it seems like I might be able to do just that. I would be a bit enlightened to hear from you that I might be able to actually grip it comfortably and shoot it accurately in such a manner that it wasn't designed for.
